Diane Rado, Advisory Board Member

An award-winning journalist, Diane Rado has been a newspaper reporter for 25 years specializing in government, education, public finance and politics. She has an M.A. in journalism from Northwestern University and is a 1999-2000 University of Michigan Journalism Fellow. Currently she is editor of School Week, which provides in-depth coverage and analysis of public schools in three districts outside of Chicago as well as the College of DuPage. Founded by Rado and her husband Pete Reinwald in the summer of 2007, School Week is believed to be the first paper in Illinois that focuses solely on education coverage.

   

Before launching School Week, Rado worked at the Chicago Tribune from 2001 to 2007, covering statewide education policy and finances and specializing in analysis of test scores and school budgets across the state. She also worked 15 years at the St. Petersburg Times. There, she was based mostly in the state capital, covering the governor, state legislature, state agencies and statewide education issues.
